Davtair Industries, Inc. has always been about quality people producing quality products. It was with this vision that Dave Woodruff co-founded the company in 1988. He brought to the company 20 years of highly valuable experience working in mechanical technology companies and unbridled passion. He acted as Vice President at two of these companies before branching off on his own to form Davtair with three other partners, which included his wife, Susan. As a registered industrial accountant with 15 years of experience, she had the business savvy to help Dave grow the company in a sustainable manner.
Davtair’s humble beginnings began as a supplier of electrical boxes to a small contractor. From there, Dave’s tireless self-marketing efforts and competitive pricing led to a working relationship with Mechron, a generator supply company that did business with the federal government. Work began pouring in after the successful completion of Davtair’s first project with Mechron, which involved building 119 electrical generating systems in Canada’s Arctic. Davtair’s rapid growth led to the expansion of its building facilities in the early 1990s.
While Dave has transitioned into retirement, he remains an integral part of Davtair's growth by lending his ongoing support and wisdom to ensure the success of the company's operations. His vision of a company that offers stellar service to customers at the lowest price still drives the business to this day. The company is now in the capable hands of President Jon Prober, whose expertise and passion has positioned Davtair as Ottawa’s leading vehicle systems and custom fabrication business. The future is brighter than ever.
Davtair designs, develops, fabricates, tests, repairs and overhauls a wide variety of products, from electrical boxes to military command vehicles. Davtair also provides bilingual training services to customers and all of its products go through a rigorous quality assurance process.
Davtair’s longevity as a leading vehicle systems and custom fabrication company is attributed to recognizing amazing talent in the industry and cultivating the growth of its employees. Davtair is currently under the care of Jon Prober (President), Michel Theriault (Project Manager), and Brian Crawford (Shop Supervisor). As a testament to Davtair’s commitment to its people, many of the staff have been with the company since its inception in 1988, or joined shortly after. Building a great team has allowed Davtair to grow exceptional one-on-one professional relationships with its clients.
Everyone works together as a well-oiled machine to solve problems, and each individual is as valuable as the next. That ethic has served Davtair well in Ottawa for almost 30 years, positioning the company as a market leader.
Thanks to the wide spectrum of state-of-the-art tools and equipment Davtair has in its arsenal, there is virtually no project that is too challenging to take on. The team’s fabrication work is facilitated by traditional hardware such as a 90-ton press break and shears to complete the bulk of the work. For more complex fabrication and engineering projects where speed and low cost are imperative, leading-edge lasers come into play. In other cases, Davtair relies on a traditional 30-ton punching centre.
With the robust 3D SOLIDWORKS software, Davtair is also able to design highly complex projects and provide detailed drawings for clients.
